Baby Shower Games

Choosing a Baby Shower Game:

One of the things that makes baby showers fun are the baby shower games. If you’re throwing a baby shower, then investing time into choosing games that will suit your guests is wise. There are baby shower game ideas for all sorts of themes and crowds, so dive in and have fun!
It’s important to take into account the environment of the baby shower (i.e. is it co-ed? special theme? is budget an issue?) before selecting the games. For co-ed baby showers, pick baby shower games that will be fun for both men and women. If budgeting is important, there are plenty of free baby shower games that are fun. Just do your best to pick something that the whole group can participate in and enjoy.

Free Baby Shower Games

Guess the Baby Food
Get about 10 baby food jars and remove the labels. Number each jar lid 1-10. On a poster board tape the labels from the jars, and have the guest try to match them with the right baby food. Make sure you write the correct answer down so you can check them once everyone is done. This is a really fun and challenging baby shower game.

Winner takes "ALL"
This is a great baby shower game idea! Before the baby shower starts, decorate an empty can and set it by the door. As guests arrive tell them that one of the baby shower games involves putting as much money as they want into the can. You could also pass it around after everyone arrives. At the end of the shower, ask everyone to write their name on a slip of paper along with their guess of how much money is in the can. Tell them whoever gets closest to the amount will get "ALL"... When you get a winner, give him or her a bottle of "ALL detergent"!!!

Pin the Pacifier on the Baby
It’s a classic party game with a baby shower twist. Instead of a donkey, you draw a big baby face on some construction paper and tape it to the wall. Then, make a bunch of paper pacifiers and put tacks through them. Have the guests stand about five feet away, blindfold them, spin them around three times and let them go. Whoever comes the closest to getting the pacifier in the baby’s mouth WINS.

Pregnant Picasso
Each guest takes a piece of paper and places it in their lap along with a marker. Then, without looking at their work (eyes can be open or closed, so long as they don’t look), they draw a “masterpiece” picture of a pregnant woman. Careful, this baby shower game idea can get crazy. It makes great scrapbook material for mom to keep.

Baby Picasso
For this baby shower game, each guest is given a white paper plate and a crayon or colored pencil. They hold the paper plate on top of their head and draw a picture of a baby. Afterwards, they sign their work and give it to mom as a keepsake. You could even have a vote to see who did the best.

Gum Baby Sculpture
This baby shower game is fun, unique and even a little gross. Give each of your guests a stick of gum to chew. After it’s chewed well, they must take it out and sculpt it into the shape of a baby. Have a panel of judges or everyone vote to see who has the best one. The winner can get a pack of gum.

Belly Bonanza
For this baby shower game you will need plenty of ribbon, tape or toilet paper. Gather the guests around and have mom stand up in the middle, proudly displaying her belly. Each person must guess at mom’s girth and measure it out with the ribbon. The person who’s closest wins.

What’s my name?
Give each of your guests a name tag with an interesting word such as diaper, baby food, wipes, nipples, pacifier, receiving blanket, etc. For the duration of the baby shower, this is each person’s name. If a guest accidentally calls someone by their real name, they have to put some money in a collection can for baby. It’s fun when you get to say, “Hey Nipples! Bring me some punch!”

Name that Mama
This is a great free baby shower game idea. Write the names of famous mothers (alive or dead) on pieces of paper and tape them to everyone’s back. Then, have guests pair up and ask each other yes or no questions about the famous mamas and make guesses as to who could be on their back. The first person to guess correctly wins a prize. It’s also a cute idea to make on of the papers have the mother-to-be on it.

I’m stuffed!
This baby shower game is a great way for guests to stuff themselves without eating food. Have each person shove as many inflated balloons into their shirt as possible. The one who fits the most wins a prize.

Off to the belly races!
After the baby shower game above, have the guests race around the yard while not letting any balloons fall out.

Balloon Challenge
For this baby shower game, write different challenges on several small pieces of paper (such as eat a jar of baby food, or chug a baby bottle of soda). Insert the papers inside a balloon, and then inflate it. Guests pop the balloons by sitting on them and then have to do whatever the challenge says. You could also let people play in teams or groups. Whoever finishes their challenges in the least amount of time wins.

Arts & Crafts
If you have creative guests that like to make things, this baby shower game idea can be both fun and productive. Get the guests to decorate onesies with puff paints and markers or have everyone work together to mark a large painting for the baby’s room.

Hot Potato Baby
Another classic party game with a baby shower twist! Guests stand in a circle and pass around a baby doll until the timer goes off. The guest caught with the baby is either out, or he/she has to give advice or tell an anecdote about the parents-to-be.

Baby Musical Chairs
It’s musical chairs…baby! Well, baby musical chairs, technically. Get some cute baby music for this baby shower game and then set it up as you would the classical musical chairs. You play the music and abruptly stop it, everyone rushes for a chair….you get the picture.

Baby Charades
Just like classic charades except all the actions and themes are baby related. It can be anything from changing a diaper to baby’s first haircut. This free baby shower game is great for couples.

Soap Sculptures
A variation on the other sculpture baby shower games, this one involves giving your guests a piece of soap and some carving instruments. Try pumpkin carving instruments. Then, everyone does their best to carve the shape of a baby.

Baby Scavenger Hunt
Have guests hunt around for a list of baby items. First person/team to return all the items wins. It can make a great free baby shower game.

Pass the pacifier
For this baby shower game, you need a bunch of pencils and a pacifier with a loop on the end. Have everyone hold a pencil in their mouths and then attempt to pass around the pacifier without using their hands. Anyone who drops the pacifier is out and the last person standing wins.

Baby Bottle Bonanza
This free baby shower game is like the party game where people hold fruit or balls in between their chins and necks and pass them around. Instead, they hold a baby bottle and whoever drops it is out.

Teddy bear kiss
For some extra fun, surprise the mom-to-be with this free baby shower game. Pass around a teddy bear or doll and have everyone kiss it anywhere. Then, everyone has to kiss the mom on the exact same spot.

Time capsule
Tell everyone to bring something to the baby shower that represents a special memory of theirs or something from the current day (i.e. newspaper). Then, have everyone put it in something like a large coffee can and ceremonially bury it in the back yard. When the child is older, it will bring back some good memories. Just remember to dig it up and take it with you if you move.

Speed Diaper
For this baby shower game, get a baby doll and some diapers. Have everyone race to see who can put on the diaper the quickest (correctly, of course).

Big Baby
One of your guests can remember what it was like to be a baby in this baby shower game! It’s most fun to pick the father-to-be and have everyone take turns performing baby actions on him like changing a diaper, bottle feeding, or wiping the face.

Dedication Tree
A touching way to commemorate your baby’s entrance into the world. Have all the guests come to the baby shower prepared to help plant a baby tree in the back yard. You could even make a little plaque to place at the base of the tree.

Pregnant Belly Cast
Remember the pregnancy as well as the baby shower by allowing everyone to be involved in making a pregnant belly cast.

Name that Baby Food
For this baby shower game, buy 12 jars of baby food in pairs of like colors such as green beans and peas. With a permanent marker, number the lids of the jars 1 through 12. Then remove the labels, marking the jar number on the back of the corresponding label (hide the labels to use as an answer key). Have the guests examine the jars by sight only and guess what each one is. They can write their answers down on a piece of paper. The person with the most correct answers wins. After the game is over, tape the labels back on the jars and give the baby food to the mom-to-be.

The Magic Word
This can be a fun competition at a baby shower. As guests arrive, give each one of them a safety pin or some other kind of small object. The point of the baby shower game is to not say the word “baby”. As the party progresses, if a person catches another saying the word “baby”, they get to take the safety pin from the offender. At the end, whoever has the most pins wins a prize.

Mommy Mad Libs
Make up a story about the mommy-to-be leaving spaces for nouns, adjectives, verbs, etc. Ask the guest to scream out words for the spaces, and then read it. It’s better if you don’t let them know the story is about the mommy-to be so the story will be funny. Read it out loud at the end of the baby shower for a good laugh.

Free Co-Ed Baby Shower Games

Baby Bottle Chug
For those of you who have ever tried to drink out of a baby bottle, you know how difficult it is to drink quickly. It’s a great co-ed baby shower game because it’s fun to watch the dads try and chug. Fill small baby bottles with any drink, and The person that finishes the bottle first wins.

20 Questions about the Parents
This is a great baby shower game to test how much guests know about the expectant couple and for everyone to learn something about them. Beforehand, write out 20 questions about the couple and their pregnancy. Hand out copies of these questions and have all the guests answer them. Whoever gets the most right answers wins.

Dressing in the Dark
Try out this co-ed baby shower game to test the father-to-be’s abilities. Blindfold him and one other contestant and give each a baby doll, diaper, baby powder and baby clothes. Whoever correctly clothes the doll fastest wins.

Pregnant Shoes Race
Now everyone can put themselves in the mother-to-be’s “shoes”. Blow up some big balloons and have the competing guests put one under their shirts. Then, time them as the try to tie their shoes over the belly! It’s a great baby shower game idea for men and women to enjoy.

“Two” Much Fun
This is a great co-ed baby shower game that will have everyone roaring with laughter. Preferably get a man and woman to sit side by side. They must work together to dress a baby doll, but each can only use one hand. The one on the right uses the right hand and vice versa. It’s surprising how difficult it can be to keep the baby from bouncing everywhere!

Multi-tasking Dad
This baby shower game is especially fun for co-ed baby showers. Have two people hold up a clothes line. Give the "victim" (dad-to-be is the most fun) a baby doll to hold, a telephone to talk on, and a basket full of baby clothes to hang with clothes pins. The timer begins whenever the dad receives a phone call (someone can call him from a cell phone). He must then proceed to have a conversation, hold the baby and hang out the clothes all at the same time! Have all the men try it and whoever does it the quickest wins. It gives the men a taste of what a multi-tasking Mom does all day.

Name that Baby Food…Blindfolded!
Get two guests, preferably men, to sit facing each other. Next, blindfold each one and put a baby bib on them. Have someone feed them 4 to 6 different kinds of baby food, and make sure some of it is nasty-tasting vegetables. Peas work well. After tasting they must each guess as to what the baby food was. The most correct answers wins. Be sure to videotape all the sour expressions from the tasters!

You Must Have Been a Beautiful Baby
This is a great baby shower game idea that can get everyone involved. Ask all your guests beforehand to bring a baby picture of themselves. Lay some poster board flat on a coffee or dining room table and lay out the pictures. Place a number beneath each one, and at some point during the shower hand out pieces of paper to everyone. Tell them to match the baby to the adult – the most correct answers wins.

It’s a great baby shower game for bowling fans! Set up ten baby bottles as bowling pins and use a tennis ball as your bowling ball. Score it like a normal bowling game.

Baby Bottle Ring Toss
There are two possible versions to this fun and challenging co-ed baby shower game. First get some baby bottle rings. The first version is much easier – get something like a baby bath tub or a wash basin and have people stand 7 to 10 feet away. They get a point for each ring they land in the tub. A difficult version is to put baby bottles in the tub and have the players try to land the rings on the bottles.

Feeding Time
This is a great co-ed baby shower game for married couples. One spouse is the baby and the other is the parent. The parent has to feed their baby as quickly as possible while racing against another couple.

If your having a baby shower during the warmer months, this is great as a co-ed baby shower game. First, have everyone go outside. Then, have them pair up and stand facing each other several feet apart. Give each couple about 5 water balloons and then have them all toss the balloons back and forth. The couple that goes the longest before breaking all their balloons wins!

This is a great baby shower game for the expectant parents to play. Each of them has to put an old-fashion cloth diaper on a blown up balloon without popping it. Add an extra twist by making the loser wear a baby bib. Great game for mom to have the advantage
